World-class robotic surgery at the University of Debrecen
The Da Vinci robot-assisted surgical system has arrived at the University of Debrecen Clinical Centre. The 21st-century, state-of-the-art technology is used primarily in general surgery, as well as surgical procedures in urology, gynaecology and otolaryngology. A “close encounter” of flavors and cultures at the University of Debrecen
A variety of more than a hundred food specialties prepared by as many as 30 teams from 29 different countries/nations were offered to lovers of international flavors at the gastronomic festival of the University of Debrecen called International Food Day, which turned out this year to be even bigger, more exciting and tastier than ever before.

Faculty of Engineering success at the control engineering programming competition
A team of students from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen was among the first three at the 29th National István Ajtonyi Control Engineering Programming Competition. There were teams from Hungarian, Romanian and Serbian technical institutions of higher education taking part in the competition held in Serbia.

Local BMW plant holds the first practical training course for automotive vehicle engineering students
The training session of the first group of students enrolled in the vehicle engineering bachelor's degree (undergraduate) program in the automotive vehicle engineering specialization at the BMW Group Factory Debrecen Training Center has been completed. Among other special fields, the participants were introduced to design, machining, sheet metal working and the assembly and disassembly of components.

When art and science meet
The plant-themed artwork of Ecuadorian-born graphic artist Luis Guallichico, Assistant Professor at the Department of Ecology of the University of Debrecen's Faculty of Science and Technology, has been featured on the blog of British Ecological Society, too. The work of the laboratory assistant of the HUN-REN-UD Functional and Restoration Ecology Research Group has been inspired by the efforts and dedication of the botanists and ecologists making up the group.

The University of Debrecen is the proud recipient of a gold rating
The University of Debrecen is the only Hungarian institution of higher education to have received the gold certification of the FISU Healthy Campus program. Out of a total of 137 institutions of higher education on the international list, only ten have achieved a similar rating.

A special further training session for secondary school teachers of German at the Faculty of Humanities
Teachers of German from top-priority German language training institutions of Debrecen’s Vocational Training Center (Debreceni Szakképzési Centrum - DSZC) came to a special further training session hosted by the University of Debrecen (UD) on Thursday. The event also included a workshop for language teachers on corporate communication, organized by the companies British Telecommunications, Deutsche Telekom IT Solutions, Schaeffler Debrecen and Transcosmos Hungary.

The theater company of Slavic studies on stage
An adaptation of Tolstoy's novel, Anna Karenina, was staged with great success by the students of the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Debrecen (UD) in the Liszt Hall of the Faculty of Music. The performance, which premiered on April 24 was directed by Angelika Molnár, an associate professor of the institute.

Developing a relationship with a private university in India
The University of Debrecen has signed a cooperation agreement on research and education with the institution of higher education called Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology, India. Owing to this partnership agreement, joint training and student exchanges will be possible in the future in the fields of engineering, information technology and natural sciences.
